CANCELED: MOAACC Auxiliary Trip to Mt. Dora

This boat ride is as good as any offered worldwide such as in Thailand, Costa Rica or the Amazon. Welcome aboard for a narrated tour! In the 1930's, Grantlant Rice; a leading sports writer, called the Dora Canal "the most beautiful mile of water in the world". Surveyors named Lake Dora in honor of a young woman who allowed them to camp on her homestead and gave them meals. The ancient cypress trees with their lofty osprey nests,Turtles sunning themselves on logs, egrets and the occasional alligator or two, lend themselves naturally to the incomparable beauty of the Dora Canal.

There is a multitude of great dining spots which are near the dock and will be shown and described in a short sightseeing tour of Mount Dora. Around 1:00 pm, following lunch, there will be shopping and browsing time at the quaint and colorful village type shops of Mount Dora followed by the boat tour.
