MOAACC SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year beginning in 1984, The Cape Canaveral Chapter of The Military Officers Association of America has awarded Scholarship grants to descendants and wards of active duty or retired members of the Uniformed Services of the United States (includes Regular, National Guard or Reserve enlisted and officers of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, NOAA or USPHS). The quantity and value of the scholarships vary from year to year. In 2007, we awarded 12 scholarships worth $3,500 each. In 2008, we awarded 10 scholarships worth $3,500 each and from 2009 through 2016 we awarded 10 scholarships yearly worth $3,000 each. $630,000 has been given to 243 recipients since 1984. A list of all scholarships awarded throughout the years can be viewed here.
The Scholarship Selection Committee accepts applications starting on 1 January of each year. The deadline for submission of applications is 15 June. Late applications will not be accepted! The Scholarships are presented at the monthly MOAACC Luncheon in July. The recipient is a guest of the Chapter and any family or friends are welcome at the regular price of $18.00 per person. If the recipient cannot attend, one family member may accept for her/him with no charge for the lunch.
DONATIONS TO THE MOAACC SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Distinguished Donors (over $1,000) Named Scholarship Donors (over $10,000)
The goal of the MOAACC Scholarship Corporation is to obtain
a scholarship fund of $1,000,000 raised from donations and investments so that
10 scholarship grants worth $5,000 each can be awarded to promising future
leaders of our country on an annual basis.
Your continued help is needed for the scholarship fund to
reach its goal. How can you help?
1.
You can
donate funds to honor (In honor of) living
family members, friends and associates throughout the year. Occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries,
achievements, and thank-you notes are great ways to honor people to let them
know you are thinking of them, wishing them well, and want to stay in contact
with them. Donors contributing $500 or more
will be our guest at the July scholarship luncheon.
2.
You can donate funds to memorialize (In memory of)
family members, friends and associates throughout the year. “Donations in Lieu of Flowers” and annual
remembrances are perfect ways to memorialize people you love and cherish. Donors contributing $500 or more will be our
guest at the July scholarship luncheon.
3.
You can donate to the scholarship fund drive
held annually from March through June.
Your generosity during this campaign, combined in mass with the
generosity of other members and contacts, will ensure that the scholarship
corporation continues to award significant scholarship grants to worthy
students who will become future leaders of our country. Donors contributing $500 or more will be our
guest at the July scholarship luncheon.
